The problem

Every document was a copy of the last one

Devi Logistics was running a freight forwarding business out of spreadsheets. Every quotation, every invoice, every bill of lading was an Excel file, copied from the last one, edited by hand, saved somewhere, then attached to an email.

It works until it does not. Files drift out of sync. Numbering breaks. Somebody edits the wrong copy. Answering what does this customer still owe us means opening six files and adding it up.

And none of it could be done away from the desk, so a quote requested on a Friday evening waited until Monday morning. For a growing forwarder that admin layer quietly becomes the ceiling. Not because the work is not there, but because nobody has time to document it.
